ABOUT ME

I am a recent transplant from Southern California where I spent the past seven years counseling 7th-12th grade students at a charter school. I am passionate about helping students find and build upon their strengths in all areas of their lives.

At Cunha, I have the privilege of counseling students with last names from M-Z. I meet with students on a variety of topics including academic, personal, and social issues. I have an open door policy, so students can come in before/after school, at break, or at lunch. Otherwise, meetings can be scheduled via email or the Appointment Request form that can be found on the main Counseling page.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, watching football, and crafting.

Please come in and say hello!

FAQ's about AVID

1. What is AVID?

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a nationally-known program that prepares students for success in middle school, high school, college, and a career, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education.

2. What can I expect in the AVID Elective class?

  • A positive group of peers
  • Fun teambuilding activities
  • Organization skills
  • Guest speakers
  • Field trips to college campuses

3. If I don't choose AVID next year, will I be able to choose it in the future?

Yes! Although you will be missing out on the activities and lessons taught next year, you will still be able to choose AVID in the future (including in 9th grade at HMBHS).

4. How do I sign up?

Be sure to contact your counselor if you did not already mark AVID on your elective request form. Additionally, the selection process includes an application, teacher recommendation, and interview. You can pick up the application and/or ask for more information from Ms. Lee in the Front Office!
